With her appealing curves and equally tantalizing dance moves, Latonya Style is undeniably one of Jamaica's most renowned and distinguished Dance Instructors. She never fails to get the nod of approval as dancer/choreographer in music videos and performances. She has worked with artistes such as Sean Kingston, Mya, Mr. Lexx, Cecile, Mr. Vegas, RDX, Elephant Man, Sizzla, Patra, Alaine, Spice, Beenie Man, Charly Black, Aidonia, Ishawna, Danielle D.I., Busy Signal, Tarnado, Ryzin and many more. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dance Jamaica (DanceJa Movement) a Talent/Entertainment Organization which portrays the culture of Jamaica and its vibrant people. Latonya Style’s flexibility and versatility have made her a fixture on the worldwide stage. In addition she is an inspiration to other female dancers to strive for excellence within the performing arts.
Latonya is more than just a popular dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. She is involved in key aspects of the Entertainment Business, among these: TV/Event Hosting, Competition Judging and Promotions. Academically she possesses a degree and 8 years work experience in Administration/Human Resources as well as in the Entertainment Business. In 2011 she initiated the first Award Recognitions ‘DanceJa Awards’ dedicated to local and international Dancehall Dancers. The online nomination, where fans vote for their favorite dancers, gained participation from every continent in the globe and experienced an unprecedented level of enthusiasm from the nominees and fans alike.
In July 2012 Latonya was instrumental in exposing for the first time in Russia “True Jamaican Camp” Authentic Dancehall Workshops with 5 Top Jamaican Dance Tutors. Later that year she embarked on her Solo Cultural Exchange Tour to execute a series of Dancehall/Reggae Workshops, Lectures, Performances and Judging in Russia (Krasnodar, Siberia, Rostov on Don, St. Petersburg, Samara) and 6 Counties in Europe including Italy, France, Sweden, Poland, Germany & Finland. The tour was a great success, all workshops were well attended and the organizers and participants were highly impressed with her knowledge and ability to impart it to others in an exciting and creative manner. Ms. Style’s accomplishments abroad acted as a catalyst to enable her to open her own Dance studio “DanceJa Skool” to facilitate training and development of Jamaica’s local talent as well as to provide the environment conducive to uplift dancehall dance techniques. The curriculum caters to tourists who are interested in learning the dancehall craft. Also, dance fitness classes are offered for adults and dance fusion classes for children and teenagers among other services.
Latonya Style’s passion to dance and ‘edutain’ (educate/entertain) have become the driving force in her life as she works assiduously to achieve her goals.
